NCs in Gravure Cylinders
Common NCs (Non-Conformances) in Gravure Cylinders:
● Engraving defects — Stylus fracture/breakage, inconsistent cell depth, cell wall damage, missing cells, pin holes, shoe lines, thundering, center-out issues, or variation in cell geometry.
● Plating issues — Uneven copper thickness, poor chrome adhesion, pinholes in chrome layer, or corrosion.
● Surface/finishing defects — Scratches, out-of-roundness (deflection), imbalance (causing vibration), poor polishing/grinding, or runout exceeding tolerances.
● Print-related NCs originating from cylinder — Streaks, missing dots, mottle, doctor blade lines, ink transfer inconsistency, or color density variation (due to cell depth/volume errors).
These often arise during electromechanical engraving, laser engraving, copper/chrome plating, balancing, or proofing stages.
